As part of “What are the words you do not have yet?”, a multifaceted publication project that brings together performative, sonic and tactile experiences conceived by curator Naz Kocadere, artist Marjet Zwaans presents 'Correspondence for Choir [5.1]'. Zwaans takes lichens as a starting point in defining a healthy environment with nature. Building her insight throughout a research on lichen, and how it benefits interaction of a symbiosis of multiple algae and fungi, she forged a bond with the interdependency of a choir mutually nourishing and strengthening one another. The most recent production of the ongoing series is presented in twofold: as an embossed lichen figure in print, accompanied by a short sound piece - as a preface to a next iteration - broadcasted via Ja Ja Ja Nee Nee Nee.

"What are the words you do not have yet?" emerged from Kocadere's dedicated interest and research on language systems as well as the linguistically intangible. Inspired from Audre Lorde’s writing, the artists in the project contribute in ways in which they explore widening perspectives beyond the homocentric approach. Experimenting across artistic mediums including sound, image, installation, and performance, artists Anna Orlikowska, Gülşah Mursaloğlu, and Marjet Zwaans reveal unorthodox ways of our relation and communication between/amongst individuals, society and environment. The project brings together limited edition printed matter accompanied with performative elements which will expand throughout three venues within Amsterdam between 19-21 May 2023: San Serriffe art book shop, Ja Ja Ja Nee Nee Nee radio space and Framer Framed.
